EDOUARD CABAY
COURSE TUTOREdouard Cabay is a registered architect at the Catalan College of Architects in Spain and is graduated from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. After gaining professional experience in Foreign Office Architects in London and Anorak in Brussels he worked as head office for Cloud 9. In 2011, he founded Appareil in Barcelona; architectural office developing architectural and research projects both in Spain and abroad. In parallel to practice, he teaches at the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia in Barcelona as Faculty of the Fabrication Class, as Assistant Professor in the diploma of the Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris and as Studio Director at the EPFL in Lausanne. He has taught at the Architectural Association School of Architecture as a diploma unit master between 2010 and 2013. He is the director of the AA Visiting School in Barcelona and has lectured and ran workshops in Spain, Colombia, Iran, Morocco and Singapore.

CARLES SALA

Carles Sala was born in Barcelona in 1980 and graduated with Honours in Architecture at the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB / UPC) in 2008. He was awarded with a Scholarship from “La Caixa” Foundation together with the British Council in 2011, and became MArch at the AA School of Architecture (Architectural Association) in London where he did research on digital architecture oriented into fabrication, through kinematics and prosthetic architectural design.
He has previously engaged into exchange programs in other Univerisities such as theEscuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (ETSAB / UPM) in Spain, University of Applied Sciences Aargau (FHA) in Switzerland and the Illinois Institute of Technology College of Architecture (Crown Hall / IIT) in USA.
He stands out for his own project experience and work, such as ‘Spring in Pantone 375 C / MAS RODÓ Winery’ in Penedès, which got a Honourable Mention in the second edition of the national awards Vivir con Madera by ArquinFAD, the residential research ‘THE PLUG INN, dorm in IIT’ which received.
The First Prize at the International ACXT IDOM Awards orhis audiovisual piece ‘ON TIME’ about Chicago, which achieved the First Prize in the International Architectural Festival EME3 Collapse at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB).
His work has been published widely.

SARA SHEIKH AKBARI

Since joining Zaha Hadid architects in 2007, Sara has been involved in various projects including the winning entry of the Madrid Civil Court of Justice competition and design for the ‘Global cities exhibition’ at Tate Modern, London. Over the last couple of years, she has been a key member of Heydar Aliyev Centre project in Baku, Azerbaijan, working on various design schemes (from schematic design and detail design to construction documentation and construction administration).

Sara graduated in Architecture and Urban Design from Tehran’s Shahid Beheshti (Melli) University with honors. She has a M.Arch, Design Research Lab (DRL), the Architectural Association School of Architecture, London.

Kamvari Architects Spring Bike Ride

A Casual bike ride through scenic and beautiful B roads connecting Lavasan to Fasham via Amameh.

This will be a great end to the 2014 visiting school and we would like to ask all riders to help raise funds for the AA Tehran scholarship.

This will be an easy 27km, complete with support crew and cars for your safety.
