Omid Kamvari

Omid completed his Architectural degree at the University of Greenwich before moving to the Architectural Association to complete his Diploma and Masters degree. On completing his Masters Degree from the Emergent technologies and design course he started work at Foster & Partners.

During this time he worked on numerous projects including a retail park in Bratislava, Mixed used development in Santa Guilia Italy, commercial offices in Morocco, and hotel developments in Rimini Italy and Libya.

Previous to this he spent a year working at the offices of Allies and Morrison where he was part of the 2012 Olympic Masterplaning team. After leaving Foster & Partners he joined Hamilton’s where he worked on advanced modeling processes and their incorporation into the design structure at Hamilton’s, becoming the group leader for the Hamilton’s advanced modeling Unit. He has also worked for Make Architects and Skidmore Ownings & Merrill (SOM).


Omid is currently director of Kamvari Architects; in addition to his work at KA he is also Course director for the Architectural Association’s Tehran and Muscat visiting schools.



2014 Tutors



Kasper Ax is a Danish architect, designer and researcher based in London, UK. He earned his Master degree from The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL in London after having completed his bachelor degree in architectural design at the AAA School of Architecture, Denmark.

He is currently an Associate Architect at the Brussels/London based practice LASSA Architects, focussing on various international commissions and competitions ranging in scale from furniture to urban planning. Prior to joining LASSA, Kasper worked in other high profile architectural practices such as Asymptote (New York), MarcosandMarjan Ltd. (London), MAPT (Copenhagen).

Kasper’s work has featured in exhibitions in London, Denmark, The Venice Biennale and has been published on various websites and design magazines including the AD Magazine.

He has taught in Diploma 17 and intermediate 11 at the Architectural Association, London, where he is currently engaged in the AA Visiting School programme, Tehran and the Y4 AA course on ‘Technology and Architecture’. He has previously taught as a unit master in unit 19 at the Bartlett, Diploma DS 10 at the University of Westminster and Y5 at the AAA, Denmark.



Riyad Joucka Is an Architect and Researcher, currently based in Hong Kong.

He earned his Master of Architecture at the Emergent Technologies & Design programme of the AA School of Architecture (London, UK). His thesis HYBIOS received a ‘Thesis Distinction’.

He has worked with major practices in Amman and Beirut after graduating with distinction from Carleton School of Architecture in (Ottawa, Canada).

Riyad has taught AA Visiting Schools in Paris, Penang, Shanghai and directed AA Visiting School Jordan 2013.

His research is focused on simplifying the nonlinear logistics of complex building construction through material research and computation.
